Construction of housing for the convicts and the marines continues. Only four officers are in huts, the rest are still in tents and very uncomfortable. The construction of chimneys in thatched huts is prohibited due to the high risk of fire.
A cellar is being built on the west side of Sydney Cove to store the alcahol from the Fishburn.
The wives of the marines are issued with half their husband's spirit ration, for health reasons, on the advice of the Surgeon General John White.
