Governor Phillip tells Captain Tench that the Prince Of Wales, currently fitting for sea, is to return to England. There had been specualtion that it was to go to Norfolk Island.

The court of magistrates sits. Ann Smith is found guilty of insolence and abuse and sentenced to be flogged through the camp. The papers, signed by Governor Phillip, are marked "The sentence remitted".
