In 1823 George Cribb built a smart 2 storey house to replace an earlier house.
In 1830 James and Sarah Byrne built the St. Patricks' Inn which incorporated the old Cribbs House. The name of the pub was later changed to the Whaler's Arms. Prior to its demolision in 1902 it was used as a boarding house.
