George Legg was found guilty of stealing in 1786 and sentenced to 7 years transportation. He arrived in Sydney in 1788 as a convict aboard the Charlotte. By 1795 he had married Ann Armsden and they lived in a stone cottage at what is now 93 Gloucester Street. In 1807 he drowned while fishing in Botany Bay.
